About Us

The original Auckland Electric Tramways Company Limited was the first electric tramways company servicing the Auckland area between 1902 and 1919.

The company was re-incorporated in 1996. Our mission is the preservation of Auckland's tramway heritage through the collection, preservation and restoration of its technology, rolling stock, paraphernalia, records and ephemera.

In April 2015 the AETCL joined the Council of Tramway Museums Australasia (COTMA).

Based in Auckland, the present-day AETCL has in its care the collection of its curator, Jef Grobben. Visit the Our Trams pages for details on the collection.
